On April 5, after 81 years, Lowell Ronald Folkers went to start his new life standing on the mountain as the lord was taking his hand to lead him home. He battled several health issues. He was surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Karen, his children, Rhonda Schumacher, Shelly (Chris Carney) and Corey (Candice Noe) 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and his brother Alan Folkers. Ron was born in Opportunity, Washington to Lowell and Edna Folkers.

He grew up in Hartington, Nebraska and graduated from Hartington High. He became a newspaper man in Yankton, South Dakota and from there worked for the newspaper in Lead-Deadwood, North Platte NE, and retired from the Pueblo Colorado newspaper.

Ron was proceeded in death by his parents Lowell and Edna Folkers, brothers Curt, Larry, and Bob. Ron was a loving husband, a great father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will always be remembered for his storytelling, love for song, and fun-loving way of making you feel special and truly loved.

A celebration of Ron's life will be announced at a later time.
