Luis A. Monteiro

Luis Alexandre Monteiro, "Alex," beloved son, brother, boyfriend, and friend, passed away tragically and unexpectedly on July 2, 2023, in Colorado, at the age of 24. Luis was known for his kind and loving nature, always willing to lend a helping hand to those around him. He loved his family and friends, and had a passion for travel, loving to explore different cultures and places around the world.

There is so much more to Alex than I (Heather/ mom) could write here—I could never write enough about him. He is my beloved and my first baby. He was the most positive person; always with a huge, beautiful smile on his sweet face. I have no idea how we have even made one step forward without him in this world. It feels impossible, but we all keep carrying on because we must.

Luis worked as a flight instructor in Providence, Rhode Island, where he also spent leisure time weight lifting and practicing martial arts. He loved to paint and be outdoors. Luis graduated from Palo Verde High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, and previously attended Statesboro High School in Statesboro, Georgia.

He is survived by his parents, Heather Monteiro and Nuno Monteiro; siblings, Marco, William, and Melina Monteiro; stepparents Carl Braunlich and Carina Decena; grandparents Pam and Jody Rucker, Wayne and Charlotte Bloodworth, and Carlos and Leonore Monteiro; and by his best friend, Jeremy Klein, and girlfriend, Sulay Restrepo-Suarez. He is also survived by a multitude of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, co-workers, and students. He will be deeply missed by his family and by all who knew him.
