Lynn Blaylock

Lynn G. Blaylock, age 91, of Fort Collins, Colorado died April 8, 2013.

Lynn passed away quietly at Columbine West in Fort Collins. Lynn lived a full and interesting life, and we celebrate his kindness, gentle sense of humor, love of learning and teaching, and desire to serve others through his knowledge and skills.

Lynn Gail Blaylock was born January 23, 1922 in Fromberg, Montana, the son of Frank and Elsie Blaylock. His family moved to Wisconsin when he was a year old, and he graduated from Superior High School, Superior, Wisconsin in 1939. He attended Superior State Teachers College for two years.

In 1942 Lynn entered the U. S. Army and served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 69th Division in Europe. In 1946, after being discharged from the Army, Lynn and his parents moved to Fort Collins where he attended Colorado State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree. Lynn received his master's degree and PhD from Texas A&M University. While there he met Betty Jean Snyder, and they were married in 1950. Lynn was on the faculty for a year at Washington State University and then at Colorado State University for a year. The couple moved to New Ulm, Minnesota where Lynn worked for the International Milling Company, later International Multifoods, and retired after a 27-year career.

Lynn and Jean joined the Peace Corps in 1983 and spent 3 years in Barbados. On returning to the U.S. they divided their time between their cabin in northern Minnesota and their home in Sun City, Arizona. During this time, Lynn did some consulting for the International Executive Service Corps in Thailand, Indonesia and Jamaica.

Lynn and Jean moved to Estes Park in 1991 and four years later moved to Fort Collins. Lynn is survived by his wife, Jean; three daughters, Cathy (and Dan) Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Sandy Blaylock of Talbott, Tennessee and Ann (and John) Watson of Newport, Vermont; his sister, Lois Peters, of Oceano, California; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Watson, of Newport, Vermont.
