M. Carolyn Smith

M. Carolyn Smith, of Fort Collins CO, passed away on Saturday, June 15th, 2024. Carolyn was born in Ohatchee AL on June 27th, 1943, to Clifford and Virginia Cole. As a child, she lived in various places around the United States, due to her father's military service. She returned to Alabama and later received her Master's degree in History and Secondary Education from the University of Alabama.

Carolyn enjoyed a diverse array of hobbies, including tennis and gymnastics when she was younger, and painting and scrapbooking later in life. However, those who knew her well would probably say that she was most passionate about supporting the Alabama Crimson Tide football team. In 2012, she moved to Colorado to be closer to her grandchildren. During her time in Colorado, Carolyn developed a love of the mountains and enjoyed touring many locations around the state. She was also able to implement her crafting skills as a volunteer, making blankets for children in crisis.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Virginia Cole; son, Kyle Smith; and brothers, Allen Cole, and Wayne Cole. She will be missed and remembered by her sons, Ryan (Shannon) Smith, Kevin (Melanie) Smith; Grandchildren, Forrest, Avery, Wyatt and Addison Smith; brother, Butch Cole and her nieces and nephews.

Per her request, the family will not be holding a memorial service. Please make memorials to an organization that brings joy to your heart.
