Madeleine Rebecca Svitak

Madeleine Svitak, (nee Counelis) 94, also known as Becky, of Fort Collins, CO (formerly of Berwyn, Riverside, and Oak Brook, IL), peacefully passed on Saturday, January 14, 2023. She was born January 28, 1928 to the late Antonio Counelis and Koula (nee Lazou). She was raised in Chicago Heights, IL, and graduated from Bloom High School. She married the late Donald Svitak, the love of her life, on September 10, 1949. They were married 60 years.

Becky is survived by her 7 children: Debbie Heidecke (late Rich), Don (Lynn), Steve (Cheryl), Sherryl DeMarco (Peppe), Jeanne Rudolph (Frank), Jon (Jane), and Joan Vondruska (Mark Paxson). She has 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Becky and her husband, Don, travelled extensively throughout the U.S., including Alaska and Hawaii. They were also in Europe, Asia, and Mexico. However, they enjoyed their vacation home in Marco Island, Florida, best of all.

Becky will always be remembered for her very loving, caring, kind, and generous nature. She was very committed to each and every church where she was an active parishioner, taking part in numerous church functions. She enjoyed cooking for her very large family, and friends were always welcome. Her cooking is legendary.

There will be a celebration of life for Becky on Saturday, May 13, 2023, 11:00 am, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Fort Collins, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pathways Hospice of Larimer County, 305 Carpenter Road, Fort Collins, CO 80525.
