Marcia Joy Jones, 98, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away on January 29, 2016 after a long and eventful life.
She was born in Laporte, Colorado on September 2, 1917, the daughter of K. Glenn and M. May (Cable) Brolliar. Joy graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1935 and married J. Lloyd Jones in 1942. The couple owned and operated Jones Auto Body Shop before and after WWII. They started Lloyd's Art Shop in 1951 and sold it to their son Gary in 1973. They also operated Brolliar's Specialty Shop after Joy's father retired. In 1984 they sold Colorado Alabaster to their son, Stan after operating that business for 10 years.
Joy and Lloyd were fortunate to have 61 years together before Lloyd's death; extending hospitality to artists they met through their businesses, traveling the country to visit relatives and friends, and dedicating their lives in service to their church, Community of Christ, where Joy served as a Deacon.
Joy appreciated meeting new people and tirelessly worked to help anyone in need. She adored her family and friends, and will be greatly missed for her thoughtfulness and the concern she showed for everyone she knew.
She is survived by her children, Marilyn (Earnest, deceased) Garner, Gary (Debra) Jones, Gail (Thomas) Sundell, and Stanley (Susan) Jones; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; stepchildren William E. Jones and Mary Jo Baker; 10 step grandchildren, 22 step great-grandchildren and 6 step great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, sisters, Betty Wall Knittle and Margie Pfau, and stepson, Terral L. Jones.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 13th, at Community of Christ, 220 E. Oak, in Fort Collins. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community of Christ (Tangible Love Fund) or Poudre Landmarks Foundation, in care of Goes Funeral Care, 3665 Canal Dr. #E, Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
