Nov 26, 1945 — Feb 27, 2017

Margaret "Maggie" Ann Velte, 71, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, February 27, 2017, in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Maggie was born in Texarkana, Arkansas to Jewell and Hugh Campbell on November 26, 1945. Her early years centered around family, Girls Auxiliary at church, and the Girl Scouts. In high school, she was a majorette and played valve trombone in stage band. She graduated from Texarkana High School in 1963, then worked at Texas Instruments from 1963 - 1966. She enlisted in the Air Force in 1966 as a nurse. During her service, she met Gerald Lawrence Velte, and they married in Bellevue, Nebraska on July 27, 1968. In 1970, she was honorably discharged from the Air Force. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from Wright State University in 1973 and worked in that field her whole life. She was blessed with her first son Jonathan in 1974 and shortly after the family moved from Ohio to California, where they spent the next 20 years. She was further blessed with two more sons: Steven in 1979 and Michael in 1981. In 1994, the family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, where she lived the remainder of her life, serving God, her husband, and her family.

Maggie loved the Lord and working with the ladies in Bible study. She was loved by all who knew her, for her kindness and generous spirit. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and had the extraordinary gift of family. She enjoyed reading, traveling, movies, and most of all spending time with her family and friends. Maggie will be deeply missed and her memory cherished.

Maggie is preceded in death by her parents, Jewell and Hugh; and two brothers John and Hugh.

Maggie is survived by her husband: Gerald Velte; her sisters: Marilyn Anderson and Carol Thornton; three sons: Jonathan, Steven, and Michael Velte; and three granddaughters: Vivian, Emily, and Victoria Velte.
