Marie Ann Leavitt (Micky), 86, passed on to our Lord Thursday, June 11, 2015 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Marie was born on January 24, 1929 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Joseph and Eva Wojtkiewicz. Marie was the 5th of 14 children and grew up in Milwaukee. She often talked about how much she loved growing up in a big family and helping care for the younger kids.
Marie was visiting friends in Duluth, Minnesota when she met Clarence Leavitt. They married on Valentine's Day, 1949 and moved to Saxon, Wisconsin where they started a family and raised their children. Marie loved children and hoped to have 10 but made it to 9. She was very proud of her family and worked very hard at home to take care of them. She was a wonderful seamstress and sewed all of her children's clothes. Marie was also a great baker and baked fresh bread for her children every other day. Later, Marie and Clarence moved to the Twin Cities and then to Colorado. Marie lived the last 36 years in Colorado surrounded by friends and family. She is remembered for her great sense of humor and her very caring heart for family and friends.
Marie is survived by 2 sisters, her children, Bob, Barbara, Bryan, Buddy, Darryl, Diane, Doreen and Dale as well as her grandchildren, Christine, April, Anthony, Mona, Trisha, Billy, Leah, Brenda, Marie, Nick, Elizabeth, Travis, Clarence, Cameron, Candace, Carly, Michael, Laura, Daniel, Sharae, Toni, Nicole, Thomas and Eva. Marie is also survived by 47 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
Marie was preceded by her husband Clarence Leavitt, her son Bill, her grandson Reese, her great grandsons Ryan and Kai, 2 great great grandchildren, 6 brothers and 5 sisters.
Funeral services for Marie will be on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Saint John XXIII Catholic Church in Fort Collins, Colorado. Viewing will be at 9am, Recitation of the Rosary at 10am and the Mass of Resurrection will be at 10:30am followed by a reception. Internment will be at Mount Olivet cemetery in Wisconsin at a later date.
