Obituary for Marilyn Kay Ellerby
We are saddened to announce the passing of Marilyn Kay Ellerby on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026, passing from natural causes at the age of 82, while in the care of UC Health Medical Center of the Rockies Hospital. Born to Paul and Ester Cavitt on November 19th,1943 in Michigan. Marilyn loved hiking, quilting, crafts, word-search, chess, wildlife, walks around the block, and watching football – snuggling under her Chiefs blanket.
Marilyn was beloved wife to husband David Arthur Ellerby, her best friend and partner in life. They married on September 18, 1965, and together they raised one son Michael Ellerby and one daughter Rebecca Leppert.
Passing before her were her parents Paul and Ester Cavitt, father-in-law Richard and Barbara Ellerby, brother Bruce Cavitt, sister-in-law Ann, and daughter-in-law Eugena (Angel) Ellerby.
Marilyn is survived by her husband David Ellerby, brother-in-law John and Margene Ellerby, brother-in-law Dan and Marti Ellerby, son Michael Ellerby, son-in-law Dale and Rebecca Leppert, grandson Brandon and Kacey Ellerby, grandson Damian Leppert, granddaughter Julie Ellerby.
She was a very dedicated woman, working as a nurse for 40 years at Poudre Valley Hospital caring for others. Marilyn held fast to family traditions of having everyone over to the house to celebrate holidays together and enjoy great food.
