Marlene Johannsen

Marlene Johannsen, 75 of Fort Collins died Oct. 26, 2011 at her home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, Oct. 30th at Highland Cemetery, Wellington. Marlene Shirley Schultz was born July 2, 1936 in Paullina, Iowa to Kermit and Almo Schultz. She met her husband, Elmer Johannsen, while working in the local movie theater selling popcorn. In 1972, they moved their family from their diversified farm in Iowa to Wellington, CO where they specialized in dairy farming. She and Elmer retired from the family business, Marjo-Lane Dairy in 2001. Marlene was a meticulous housekeeper as well as an excellent cook and baker. She is survived by her four children, Lane Johannsen of Wellington, Tamara (and Maurice) Keitt of Cheyenne, WY, Tara (and Darwin) Huwe of Menagha, Minn. and Joni (and Joe) Trotter of Fort Collins; one sister, Geri (and Leroy) Hansen of Sheldon, (Iowa); her brother, Mark (and Cindy) Schultz of Holdridge, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Marlene was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Elmer; and her brother, Michael Schultz.
