Marlene Marie Keil

Marlene Marie Keil, 84, of Fort Collins died July 27, 2015, surrounded by her daughters. She was born to Wellington James and Lois Mae (Forsberg) Bushway on June 25, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan. She was raised with her sister Kathryn in Dearborn, Michigan, and spent her summers in Eagle Harbor and Calumet, Michigan, swimming in Lake Superior. Marlene graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn, Michigan, and later attended Henry Ford Community College while working as a Librarian. She married her husband, Robert Clyde Olson, at Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church in Detroit, Michigan, on October 23, 1954. She lived in Memphis, Tennessee and Santa Ana, California, while her husband was stationed with the USMC. Together, they raised their daughters, Nancy, Linda and Jane and one son, Jeffrey. Marlene and her family traveled and lived in many states across the Nation; from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Southfield, Michigan, to Tacoma, Washington, to Fairbanks, Alaska, to Colorado Springs and Castle Rock, Colorado. They moved on to West Milford, New Jersey, then Cedar Falls, Iowa, and there in 1979, she and Robert divorced. Marlene lived in Parker, Colorado, and later moved to Loveland, Colorado, where she married Wilbur (Willie) Fred Keil on December 6, 1991. Afterwards, they lived in Greeley Colorado until Willie’s death on July 9, 1999. Marlene had lived in Fort Collins over the years and it is in Fort Collins that she lived out her life, close to her family and friends. For years, Marlene was very involved with Ascension Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs, where she taught Sunday school. She also worked at El Paso Community College in Colorado Springs and at the Forestry Service in Fort Collins. She enjoyed swimming, reading, ice skating, Polka dancing, traveling, and she had a tender heart for animals. Marlene is survived by her three daughters, Nancy (Hai) Vo-Ba of Fort Collins, Colorado; Linda Olson of Parker, Colorado; Jane (Kevin) Seichter also of Parker, Colorado; son, Jeffrey Olson of Anchor Point, Alaska; five grandchildren, Dai-An, Brooke, Joshua, Paige, & Nicole, and her dear cousin, Lois Geiger of Calumet, Michigan. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wellington and Lois Bushway; sister, Kathryn Gordon and husband, Willie Keil. Cremation and a Private Family Remembrance will be held for her loved ones. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the Weld County Humane Society at 1620 42nd St, Evans, CO 80620 or to a charity of choice for veterans or animals. .
