Marshall Rohling Van Stone, 33, of Fort Collins, Colo., passed away at home on May 28, 2012, Memorial Day. Marshall was born in Fort Collins on August 28, 1978. He was a Native Coloradoan on both sides of his Father's family, the Van Stones (6th Generation) and the Rohlings (5th Generation). Marshall grew up in Fort Collins and attended O'Dea Grade School, Boltz Junior High School and Fort Collins High School. He graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with minors in Criminal Justice and Philosophy from Colorado State University. Marshall was an avid music fan and had great talent in drumming. He had been in the bands of AREA 52 and WASABI here in Fort Collins. Marshall is survived by his parents, Lynn and Kathryn ("Kayo") Van Stone of Fort Collins, sister Heather Hart of Rio Rancho, NM, nephew Dakota Hart of Ada, OK, cousin Anna Green-Hazelrigg (Scott) of Jourdanton, TX, uncle Richard (Lucille) Green of Las Cruces, NM, aunt Donna Lea Van Stone and uncle Kent (Diane) Van Stone of Aurora, CO. Marshall was a very gentle soul and very artistic in his endeavors. In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations to be made in his name to the Fort Collins Cat Rescue, 2321 East Mulberry, Fort Collins, Co 80524, Larimer County Humane Society, 6317 Kyle Avenue, Fort Collins, CO 80525, or a charity of your choice. Cremation will take place and there will be open house Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at 511 Del Clair Road for family and friends gathering to have a Celebration of Life for Marshall.
