Martha Evelyn Chrisman Badgley passed away on Monday, October 4, 2010. She is survived by her husband, Carl Edward Badgley, five children (Clifford Badgley of Fresno CA, Eric Badgley of Phoenix AZ, Sarah Hammond of Seattle WA, Dwight Badgley of Denver CO, and Alice Badgley of Seattle WA), and two grandchildren (Patrick and Lucy Hammond), and seven siblings (Laura Deters, Wilma Shuman, Edgar Chrisman, Elizabeth Stritenberger, Patricia Davis, Mary Kinsch and Paul Chrisman). Martha was born at home on her parent's farm in Thayer, Kansas on July 11, 1941 to Garland and Arlene Todman Chrisman. She spent her childhood and school years in Thayer where she was on the basketball team and graduated from Thayer High School as valedictorian in 1959. After high school Martha entered the Air Force where she met her husband, Carl Edward Badgley, while they were in the same technical school at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. They married July 18, 1963 in Rapid City, South Dakota, and were married 47 years. Martha and Carl moved around the country over the years and eventually made their home in Fort Collins, Colorado where they raised their five children. They built two houses and Martha did the internal woodworking for both. Martha worked for the Fort Collins Police Department for 22 years and was a desk officer when she retired. She had many friends there and was well liked by everyone that knew her. Martha had many hobbies, including quilting, gardening, cabinetry, hiking, and photography. Her quilts exhibited exceptional craftsmanship, and were entered in competitions where they won numerous awards. Graveside service with full military honors will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday at Roselawn Cemetery; 2718 E Mulberry St, Fort Collins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pathways Hospice, 305 Carpenter Road, Fort Collins, CO 80525, or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
