He lived in Lawrence until he finished high school and chose to attend Colorado A & M (CSU). Marv's family opened and owned the Knotty Pine Cafe on College Avenue and Stuart Street. Marv graduated from Colorado A & M in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science degree and entered into the real estate industry with Moore Realty in Denver. In 1958 Marv completed a tour of duty with the US Armed Services in Korea. In 1959 he married Hazel Byers in Boulder and they resided in Fort Collins. They had two children, David and Carrie. In 1969 he moved with his wife and young children to Steamboat Springs to open a restaurant at the ski area. Marv made a career in the restaurant industry, real estate, and retired from Colorado Yampa Coal in 1992. In 1996 he moved back to Fort Collins to be near his children and grandchildren. Marv enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, golf and music. He was a gourmet chef who loved to cook for family and friends. Our family would like to express deep appreciation to Dr. Timothy Allen and his entire staff and Dr. Tim Podhajsky for the care they provided during the past five years. A special thank you to Elderhaus and Columbine Care Center West and their staffs, who were so gracious and caring during Marv's illness.
