Mary Margaret Duckels, 94 of Fort Collins, Colorado died on October 4th 2014.
She was born in Denver, Colorado on June 19th 1920 to Arthur and Mary Anna (Lehman) Fitzpatrick. Mary grew up on a dairy farm and orchard in Aurora, Colorado with her three sisters and two brothers. She was a strong, hard working woman who cherished her German and Irish heritage.
She attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and St. Mary's Academy. She lived in Steamboat Springs, Colorado for many years. She lived in Laporte, Colorado since 1980. On September 11th 1938, Mary married Thomas Woodruff Duckels, Jr. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Denver. Together, they raised their beloved children, son, Fred and daughter, Mary. They were the proud owners of Duckels Construction Company. Duckels Construction is still operating.
Mary was devoted to her faith. She served as a Eucharistic Minister along with other hospitality duties for the church. Aside from her family, she loved to travel and was a 4-H Leader. She earned her pilots license in her 50s. She traveled the world in her later years; she was an adventurer!
Mary is survived by her son, Fred (Sunny) Duckels; daughter, Mary (Chuck) Solomon; six grandchildren, Dori (Scott) DeCamillis, Debbie Duckels, Dana Duckels, Derick (Anne) Duckels, Sean (Bill) Solomon and Chuck (Cindy) Solomon; sister, Mildred (James) Haselden; six great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Hailey and Savannah Duckels, Brianne and Courtney Solomon and Annabelle DeCamillis; step-granddaughter, Rebecca Herz.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
A Rosary is scheduled for October 17th 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Fort Collins for 1:30 PM, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 2:00 PM; dinner to follow at 3:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 AM, Saturday, Oct. 18th at Holy Name Catholic Church, Steamboat Springs. Interment at Steamboat Springs Cemetery.
In lieu of donations, we request prayers for peace, love and reconciliation throughout the world.
