Mary Joann Foos

Mary JoAnn Foos, 90, entered eternity with Christ on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Lemay Avenue Health & Rehab in Fort Collins, CO. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her warmth and kindness will be dearly missed. She loved spending time with friends and family, baking, quilting and working on her ancestry roots. She was known for her delicious krautburgers, rival kugan, homemade apple butter, apple cake and banana bread, rice pudding and canned peaches and pears. She enjoyed crocheting, making sure that all the grandkids had slippers for their feet and a hat on their head. She also enjoyed woodworking and creating a variety of things, most notably were the play kitchen sets for the grandchildren that continue to be passed down from family to family. While she had many interests and hobbies, most important to her was her family. She had no greater joy than raising her children and spending time with her Grandkids and Great-Grandkids.

JoAnn was born August 18, 1931, in Eaton, CO to Konrad Heinrich Pappenheim and Marie (Mary) Schlotthauer. She graduated from Greeley High school in 1949 and went on to work a variety of jobs from bookkeeper and teller at First National Bank in Greeley, CO, Varitype operator at the Greeley Journal, and a Bench Chemist and Supervisor for Great Western Sugar Beet Laboratory in Greeley, CO. She was united in holy matrimony to Kenneth Lee Foos on May 24, 1953. JoAnn was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Greeley for many years where she led the quilting group in providing quilts for Lutheran World Relieve and other organizations. She then relocated to Fort Collins in 2004 to be near to her children and grandchildren.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Russel (Peggy) Foos of Albuquerque, NM; Rick (Mary) Foos and Randy (Susan) Foos of Fort Collins, CO; Rhonda (Randy) Ewan of Windsor, CO. Her legacy also lives on in the hearts of her 8 Grandchildren, Tara, Christine (Andy), Brittany (Matt), Jonathan (Alicia), Stacey, Kaitlyn, Larissa and Kathryne, and 8 Great-Grandchildren, Jordin, Makayla, Aiden, Levi, Aryanna, Haley, William and Taron. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 1995 and brother Ken, and is survived by her 2 sisters, Eileen Campbell of Fort Collins and Virginia Moore of Mississippi.

Her family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Lemay Avenue for their compassionate care during the time that she lived there. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lutheran World Relief. A Celebration of Life will occur at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 7755 Greenstone Trail, Fort Collins, CO 80525, on July 18, with service at 10:30, interment at 11:30 and a luncheon reception following.
