Ann Lucas went to be with Jesus on October 15, 2022, at the age of 92. She suffered for many years with frontal lobe dementia. Her passing was with family at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Diane, and Dale Black. Ann was born in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania to a dairy farmer and a seamstress. She was raised in Erie, Meadville, and Cambridge Springs Pennsylvania, and attended high school and college in Houghton, New York. She earned perfect attendance awards, and her intelligence allowed her to advance several grades. Ann was proud to have her first job at a soda shop as a cashier. Later, she went on to work as a switch operator at Erie Cab Company where she met her husband and his German shepherd, Ricky.
After some time in Boulder, Colorado, she returned to Erie. PA for several years. Marriage to her husband brought her to Cheyenne, Wyoming where her family continued to grow. She worked at Mountain Bell Phone Company as an operator and draftsman, most of her life's work was being a homemaker. Later, her husband's work brought her to Fort Collins, Colorado, where she would spend the next 58 years of her life.
Ann was a loving wife and mother. Her constant life companion was her cousin, Alice, who she thought of as a sister. She gained a brother in Alice's husband, Steve. As a child, she loved to care for and ride a pony named Jack on a farm where her father worked. It wasn't uncommon for her to rescue animals, even crickets and spiders. She loved all living creatures, and they always knew where to find her. You could often find Ann surrounded by books, reading everything she could get her hands on. In her younger years, she played piano and was a beautiful artist. She enjoyed time visiting with her family, doing ceramics and cross-stitch, and listening to music. No matter the situation, she found the good in everyone. If you were blessed enough to have spent a moment with her, you felt her unconditional love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lucas, father James M. Siverling, her mother, Mable Lewis Siverling, infant brother, her aunt, Viola Brock and her cousin, Alice Pavlisin, Joann Lewis, and Jane Pederson.
She is survived by her cousins David Lewis and Steve Pavlisin, her five children; Mike Lucas, Nancy Hixon (Tim Hixon), Diane Black (Dale Black), James Lucas (Chewy), Rebecca Hood (Bruce Hood), her eight grandchildren; Christopher Lucas (Morgan Lucas), Aaron Lucas (Becky Lucas), Jessica Collom (Steve Collom), Sarah Hixon, Jamison Black (Emily Black), Jeremiah Lucas (Rachel Lucas), Keturah Lucas, Katie McKie, her 11 great grandchildren, Jackson, Finley, Stella, Farrah, Jahi, Sienna, River, Abigail, Logan, Lorenzo, Payzlee.
The family would like to express their gratefulness to the Hospice Pathway of Fort Collins and all their staff that so lovingly showed up every time I needed them, and my heart was so touched by their extra support to my son, Jamison, as he assisted in her full-time care. Their loving compassion was beyond all our expectations, and I feel we all received a very special gift in knowing each one of them. Finally, I would extend our gratefulness for Chris Goes and all the funeral staff at Goes Funeral Care. When Chris personally showed up to care for my mother after her death, I was reassured beyond measure that she was leaving our house for the last time in good hands having left this earth for the heavens, with no more need for her earthly body. His compassion, counsel and professionalism are more than commendable. Forever Blessings to you all.
