Mary Elizabeth Winterboer went to be with her Lord on November 10, 2025. She grew up on a farm near Onawa, Iowa, was active in 4H, and graduated from West Monona High School. She attended Iowa State University (ISU), earning a B.S. degree in Family Environment. Mary worked in credit union banking for 35 years, holding several leadership roles.
Mary met her husband, Ron, at ISU. They were married in 1968 and their son, Chad, joined them a two years later. They moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa in 1973 so Ron could accept a job with Land O' Lakes from where he retired.
Outside of work and in retirement, she was active in her churches, serving on committees, volunteering, and attending group gatherings. She was also a volunteer for Lutheran Family Services of Iowa and served on their board for seven years, the final two years as Board President. She loved collecting stuffed bears, acquiring close to 150 and lovingly displaying them throughout her home. She got up early every morning to do her devotionals and exercise, even well into retirement. Sunday afternoons would find her eagerly watching NASCAR racing and pro football.
Mary loved to travel to the mountains on family vacations and wished to live in Colorado when she retired. In 2013, Mary and Ron moved to Timnath, Colo., to be closer to Chad, Lynn (wife) and Rosy (stepdaughter) who live in Broomfield.
Mary is survived by her husband, Ron, and Chad, Lynn, and Rosy. Her parents Charles and Elizabeth preceded her in death.
