Maurice "Morrie" Closs, 90 year old loving husband, father, grandfather, & great-grandfather, passed away Friday, November 16th at Parkwood Estates in Fort Collins, CO.
Maurice Samuel Closs born January 1, 1922 to Roger and Helen (Delaney) Closs in McCook, NE. The oldest of four children, he served in the U.S. Navy as a naval radar operator, retiring after 20 years. He was united in marriage to Helen Smith on August 22, 1963 at the First Methodist Church, Boulder, CO where he raised his family and was employed by the City Water Department for 20 years.
Morrie is survived by his Wife, Helen of Ft. Collins; Daughter and Son, Kim (Kent) Walkenhorst of Ft. Collins and John (Janet) Closs of Lone Tree, CO; grandchildren, Ashley (Kalen) Mauldin of New Castle, CO, Whitney Walkenhorst of Ft. Collins, Lauren and Matthew Closs of Lone Tree; great-granddaughter, Ava Mauldin of New Castle; a brother, Roger (Nancy) Closs, Jr. of Tucson, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, R. William Closs; and sister, Jean Trout.
Maurice will be greatly missed by all that knew him. A service in celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, Nov. 24th at the Lincoln Center, Columbine Room, 417 East Magnolia St., Ft.
