Maxine Solt

Oct 25, 1916 — Sep 7, 2009

Maxine Helen Solt passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2009 at Windsor Healthcare Center.  She was born on October 25, 1916 in Walnut, Iowa to Emmanuel and Emma Thoning.  Her graduation from Walnut High School occurred in 1934 where she was an enthusiastic Walnut Eagles girl's basketball team participant.  Later in 1934 she moved with her family to Fort Collins where she enrolled in the teacher's certification program at Colorado A & M.  After graduation she became an elementary art teacher.  Her creative gifts live on for all of us in her landscape acrylic and oil paintings which she continued to enjoyed as a hobby throughout her life. She met and married L. Gerald (Jerry) Solt - her life partner of nearly 70 years – on October 1, 1939.  Maxine became a devoted, beloved homemaker and mother to sons, Sam, Gary, and Steve.  She had many friends with whom she enjoyed shopping, the theater, the arts, bridge, supper club gatherings, the beauty of nature, and great pride in her family.  One of her favorite experiences was a month-long trip with Jerry to Seoul, Korea to visit their son, Sam, and family.  It was here that she fine-tuned her shopping skills which she executed with awe-inspiring speed and efficiency.   Maxine is survived by her loving husband, Jerry, of Windsor Healthcare Center, her sons Sam (Kathy), and Steve (Tammie) of Fort Collins:  grandchildren; Jayme Jenson (Pat) of Johnstown, Casey of Greenwood Village, CO, Luke and Lara Solt of Lavonia, MI, Zach and Daisey Solt of Fort Collins and great-grandchildren:  Kyle and Ryan Jenson of Johnstown.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Drexel, and her son, Gary. A private graveside service will be held.  Those who wish may consider a memorial donation to the Alzheimer's Association in her name or to Pathways Hospice.
