Elvera Maxine West was born May 25, 1926 to Martin Luther Stewart and Georgie Beatrice (Tye) Stewart in the township of Speedwell, Missouri. Maxine was the youngest of three children. Older siblings were brother William, and sister Melvina. Maxine's parents divorced early in her life after which time her mother, Georgie married Ross Sanders. Ross had 5 children, Edwin, Louise, Alma, Carl, and Mary. Together Ross and Georgie had 2 children, Kenneth and Robert, bringing the growing family to 10 children. The family moved from Missouri to Montrose, Colorado in 1934 where Maxine lived for most of her life. Maxine married Mickey Hampton in 1943. Her second marriage was to Lester West in 1967. Following her husband's death, Maxine relocated to Eden Valley Lifestyle Community in Loveland, Colorado. Maxine moved to the Spring Creek Health Care Community in Fort Collins in 2004 where she resided until her death. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Lester West, sister, Melvina Bradshaw, two brothers, William (Bill) Stewart and Kenneth Sanders, two stepbrothers, and one stepsister. Surviving are one brother, Robert Sanders, two stepsisters and a number of nieces and nephews.
