Michael Robert Hunzeker, 77, of Loveland, Colorado returned home to Christ on September 25, 2025 after a long and tortuous battle with cancer.
Mike was born on June 16, 1948 in Heron Lake, Minnesota to Calvin and Marie Hunzeker. He grew up in Beatrice, Nebraska with his two beloved sisters Mary Jo and Kathy. Later, he attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska, where he studied music and education while traveling with the choir, and performing in the USO. There, he fell in love with his soul mate, Cynthia.
Mike and Cindi were married June 26, 1971 and shared a beautiful 54 years of marriage. They built their life in Loveland, Colorado where they lovingly raised their two children, Matthew and Allison. They then lived to be grandparents to four granddaughters: Kate, Juliette, Lila, and Lena. These girls were the light of Mike's life.
Before retirement, Michael spent his days as a finance and investment banker, assisting those around him in securing their futures. He loved helping his clients achieve their personal and financial goals. Before that, he was a business owner and high school choir director. Outside of work, Mike served on the Thompon School district school board in the 1980's, he loved directing and later participating in his church choirs. Ultimately, he loved spending time with his family: being a husband, being a father, being a Papa, being a brother and uncle. His family and friends will remember his patience, his humor, his selflessness, his love.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all of the healthcare professionals and staff who treated Mike with encouragement and compassion over the years.
A memorial service in celebration of Mike will be Monday, October 6, 2025 at 1:30pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church. 7755 Greenstone Trail, Fort Collins, CO 80525.
