Mike TeMaat, 85, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on Monday, August 22 in Fort Collins. He was born in Denver, CO on September 23, 1936, son of Raymond and Madelyn TeMaat. Mike graduated from South High School in Denver in 1954. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1957 and was stationed at the Naval Security in Washington, D.C. He attended Casper College and graduated with an Associate degree. This is where he met Judy and they married on December 31, 1960. He started the first gym in Ft. Collins in 1963 and eventually, he opened the Ft. Collins Athletic Club. He was preceded in death by his son, Chad (2007), and sister, Shirley (2016). Mike is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, his son, Craig (Robbin) of Ft. Collins, and his daughter, Michele (Rick Etchepare-borde) of Texas. He has three grandchildren; Curtis Mitchell (Sadie), Travis (fiancé Cali); Karre (Joe Clark), and two great-grandchildren, his sisters Patricia and Mary Lou, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside celebration of life will be held at Roselawn Cemetery, 2718 East Mulberry Street on September 17 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers or condolences, the TeMaat family asks that you send a card or make a call to someone you love while they are living.
