Milda Reu

Milda Viola Reu passed away peacefully on September 15, 2009 at Good Samaritan Village in Fort Collins, CO, at the age of 91. She was born in a farm home near Holloway, MN, on September 30, 1917 to William C. and Edna (Baumgartner) Rohloff. Milda married Herbert L. Reu on September 1, 1939 and spent the next 26 years farming north of Appleton, MN. After moving to the town of Appleton for two years, they fulfilled their retirement dream by moving to Loveland, CO in 1967. Milda loved to sew and make crafts, including many stuffed animals, which she sold at craft fairs in the Loveland/Ft. Collins area. She also liked to garden and had a green thumb with houseplants. In her later years, she made many small quilts for family members, The Linus Project and Lutheran World Relief. Milda is survived by her two daughters, Arlene (Leon) Knox of Ft. Collins and Ardelle (Jacob) Luna of Wellington, CO; four grandchildren, Kristi (Jerry) Kreisher, Randy (Misty) VanWinkle, Jason (Missy) Luna and Ryen Luna; 3 step-grandchildren, Bradley Knox, Barry Knox and Carey (Ryan) Klosterman; 6 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kourtney, Leo, Jacob, Jayden and Marissa; 5 step-great-grandchildren, Kenyan, Sadie, Brayden, Reed, Dylan and another on the way. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Alma Reu of Willmar, MN, Amanda Thielke and Bernadine Rohloff of Benson, MN. Milda was preceded in death by her husband, Herb; son-in-law, Richard VanWinkle; granddaughter, Vickie VanWinkle; great-granddaughter, Kelsi Conn; brother, Lawrence Rohloff; and step-granddaughter, Jana Knox. Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. Friday, September 18th, with funeral services at 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 305 E. Elizabeth, Ft. Collins.
