Mildred Elizabeth Daniel passed from this life on June 23, 2011 surrounded by her adoring family. Her trusted Friend and Redeemer Jesus has surely walked her through the incredible new home He designed and built according to her preferences. (Don't make any changes just yet, Momma!) Millie was the beautiful wife of Chet. They shared 48 years together creating, educating, loving, and raising three fairly remarkable humans: Jami Elizabeth (Hood), Anna Kate and Josh Lane as well as two much beloved grandsons Owen Bristow Hood and Dylan Robert Hood. To Millie, most strangers were just friends she hadn't yet made. Always selfless, always seeking ways to serve others, she loved without expecting reciprocation. She was a great cook, rarely relying upon recipes. "Burn it black and scrape it brown" was her mantra. She loved seeds and planted them everywhere. The tiniest bud was a wonder to her childlike spirit. Her garden was lush and wild, mirroring her soul. Millie set an amazing and godly example for her children as daughter to Jessie Ruth Morris, as well as wife, mother, grandmother, niece and friend. A lifelong curiosity drove her to constantly try new things. Often, these discoveries meant Chet must stretch his imagination to convert the attic into a studio, remodel an old farmhouse, build a log cabin near the river or drive across the continent to see some beauty she'd read about in a magazine. She is also survived by her brother: Jack Eckles; by her much adored aunts: Sue Anderson, Wilma Reneau, and Mary Belle Reiseck; and by her all-time favorite uncle, Dr. John Watkins. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Millie's honor to a trust set up to benefit her Grandchildren, present and future. Checks may be sent to: Chet Daniel 301 S.
