Mildred Grace Robertson Gardner passed quietly on May 30, 2012 at the age of 99 years 4 months. She was residing at Columbine Health and Rehab Facility in Fort Collins, Colorado, at the time of her death. Mildred, "Millie" to her friends, was born on January 14, 1913, in Brownstown, Indiana. Her parents were Cash Robertson and Gladys Gertrude Crewson Robertson of Brownstown, Indiana. After high school, Millie attended business college in Indianapolis, Indiana, then worked for many years at Morgan Packing Company in Austin, Indiana. She met Mary M. Hunsucker while working there and they shared a lifelong friendship. After she and Earle F. Gardner of Scottsburg, Indiana, were married, he joined the Army. They were stationed in many places in the United States, Japan and Germany during his years of service. Millie was always interested in history and politics and loved to talk about both until her passing. Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Earle Franklin Gardner, and younger sister, Janet Hasselbring. She is survived by her only daughter, Pamela C. Gardner, who lives in Fort Collins, Colorado. She is also survived by her nieces, Cynthia Fontanez and JoAnn Rogers, several cousins and her friend Mary Hunsucker. Mildred wished to be cremated and graveside services will be held in the future for her in Brownstown, Indiana.
