Master Sergeant John Allen Priest (Ret.) passed away at age 91 on September 11, 2023. He was born on May 31st, 1932 to Vincent and Oda Priest in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
In 1951 John joined the U.S. Air Force where he proudly served for twenty four years.
John married Ruth Eloise Williams on February 9, 1952. They were married for seventy one years and were blessed with four beautiful children, Susie, Mike, Laurie, and Kelly.
John's career in the USAF took the family all over the world where he served in seven states and eleven countries.
After retiring in 1974, John worked for Larimer County and subsequently for Platte River Power, wherein he touched many through his powerful gifts of conversation and humor.
John was a talented woodworker and he built many beautiful pieces for his family. He was also a voracious reader, a Broncos and Corn Huskers fan, an avid tomato grower, and was known for his insatiable sweet tooth.
Above all, John was loving, generous, and kind. He is survived by his wife Eloise, four children, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and innumerable friends who will miss him tremendously.
A viewing will be held at Goes Funeral Care, 3665 Canal Dr., Unit E in Fort Collins, on Thursday September 21 from 4-7pm. John's funeral will be held at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church 1900 S Taft Hill Rd. Fort Collins at 10am on Saturday, September 23. Inurnment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Fort Collins, with full Military Honors by the F.E. Warren AFB, Cheyenne, WY.
