Narciso Gonzales Alonzo

Narciso Gonzales Alonzo, 100, of Fort Collins, CO, passed peacefully on April 3, 2023, surrounded by loving family. He was born in Rosebud, TX on October 29,1922 to Maximo Vasquez Alonzo and Enedina Gonzales Alonzo.

He enlisted in the US Army in 1944 and served active duty for over 22 years. He was stationed at various bases throughout the US, Japan, Taiwan and Korea. In 1950, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in connection with military operations in Korea with the 8th Army 304th Signal Operation Battalion and was promoted to Master Sergeant. He retired from the 6th Army 208th Signal Company, Fort Lewis, WA in 1964.

In 1951, while stationed in Yokohama, Japan, he married Fumiko Murasawa, his wife of over 68 years, until her death in 2020. While stationed at Fort Lewis, WA, he and his wife welcomed their daughter, Judy Ann and then son, Joseph Anthony. Following his retirement from the US Army, he moved his family to Aurora, CO. He started Al's TV, a television repair business in Denver, which he operated until 1994. He again retired at the age of 72 to perfect his art of fishing. He enjoyed fishing from his boat in Cherry Creek and Chatfield Reservoirs, among others, making lures and sharing his catch with friends and neighbors. He made hundreds of rosaries with the St Pius X Rosary Club in Aurora, CO. He was a very kind, friendly and happy soul who loved his family, the Lord, fishing, the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies.

He is survived by his daughter, Judy of San Francisco, CA; son, Joseph (Cynthia) of Ft Collins, CO; sisters Olga Navarro and Lillian Sanchez, both of Rockdale, TX; grandchildren, Timothy, Challen (Ashley), Krysta, Anna, Louis, Kolbe and great grandchildren Elias, Kelani and Lola; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Fumiko; parents Maximo and Enedina Alonzo; sisters Tomasa Montez, Rita Alonzo, Eva Alonzo and Beatrice Reyes; and brothers Raul C. Alonzo and Felix C. Alonzo.

Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2023, followed by 9:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Joseph Catholic Parish. Interment will take place at 2:00 pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO.
