Ned C. Feldbush

Ned Charles Feldbush, 73, passed away on November 23, 2024, at Seven Lakes Memory Care in Loveland, Colorado, after a long journey with Alzheimer's.

Born on January 19, 1951, to Richard Lyle and Nancy Jane Feldbush in Havre de Grace, Maryland, Ned lived in many places during his childhood, including Maryland, Austria, Italy, Pennsylvania, California, Ohio, and Virginia.

Ned graduated in 1968 from T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia. He later enjoyed sharing stories about graduating from the school portrayed in Remember the Titans, often noting that the reality of the big game wasn't quite as portrayed in the movie—after all he was there.

He earned two associate degrees from Northern Virginia Community College while living in the D.C. area. In 1978, he moved to Wyoming, a state he had fallen in love with after spending the summer of 1976 working in Story. He attended Casper College and later graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Arts degree in May 1990. Education was something Ned took pride in, and he continued taking graduate-level classes when he could—not bad for a kid who nearly didn't graduate high school.

In 1978, Ned relocated to Casper, Wyoming, where he met Pamela Shuley. The couple married in 1985 and had two children, daughter - Lynzi Marie and son- Kelly Richard. They moved to Laramie in 1987 for Ned to attend the University of Wyoming. They divorced in 1993.

After graduating from UW in May 1990, Ned began working for the Division of Information Technology at UW as a programmer. In 1999, he transferred to Human Resources, where he served as a manager for the Records department and worked as a Programmer Analyst. He retired in 2016, proud of his 25 years of service.

Ned became involved with the Laramie Soccer Association after moving to Laramie. Over several years, he coached, refereed, and served on the board in various roles, including President and Registrar. It was through soccer that he met Gaylene Thrailkill (Wilson). The two married in 2004 and shared many years of soccer, travel, hosting friends and family, and home projects. Above all, they enjoyed doing "Life" together.

Ned was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in November 2017, and many hard conversations were had to determine what the rest of their time together would look like. Ned showed great courage by facing these hard decisions head-on and clearly communicating his end-of-life wishes to family and friends to ensure clarity and comfort in the challenging days ahead. In March 2022, Ned moved to Seven Lakes Memory Care in Loveland, Colorado, a facility he had thoughtfully chosen in 2018—a testament to his foresight and care for his loved ones. There, the dedicated staff provided compassionate care until his passing.

Ned was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Nancy. He is survived by his wife, Gaylene; his children, Lynzi Feldbush and Kelly Feldbush (Melissa); his stepchildren, Ainsley Thrailkill (Darian), David Thrailkill, and Mallory Thrailkill; his grandchildren, Oaklyn, "Ti," and Kash; and his sister, Christine Feldbush.

The family requests donations to Laramie Interfaith, Family Promise of Albany County, or the Eppson Center for Seniors in place of flowers. Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service for Ned will be held on June 13 at 1 p.m. at Snowy Range Evangelical Free Church, 2552 N. 15th Street, Laramie, Wyoming. A reception will follow from approximately 2 to 4 p.m. at the shelter in Washington Park, located at the corner of Sheridan and Thornburg.
