Norman Jordan, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, May 31, 2015. Norman was born at home in rural Deep River, Iowa on October 3, 1933. He attended a one room country school there for his first 8 years. An older sister, Miriam, taught the last 2 of those years. The 8th grade and high school were at Millersburg, Iowa.
He served in the army in Berlin, Germany, from 1954-1956.
Norman graduated from Colorado State University in 1960 with a bachelor's degree in vocational agriculture.
In 1958 Norman married Delores Peterson. After graduating from CSU the Jordans lived in Evergreen, Colorado and worked at a treatment center for emotionally disturbed boys. In 1961 they formed one of the first Peace Corps groups and served in West Pakistan for 2 years. Their first son, David, was born in Rawalpindi, West Pakistan in 1962.
The Jordans returned to Iowa to take over the family farm in 1963. They farmed until 1977 when they moved to Bellvue, Colorado. In 1979 the Jordans bought a commercial greenhouse and for a number of years raised just roses. It was later sold to their son, Warren.
Norman's life was characterized by faith, family and friends. He was a man of prayer. He loved life and he loved people. He made friends wherever he went and treasured each one. Norman had a great sense of humor and added laughter to all situations. He enjoyed outdoor activities, reading, and was an excellent wood carver.
Norman is survived by his wife of 56 years, Delores, son David (Marjorie), son Terry (Karmen), daughter-in-law Beth, grandchildren Jessica, Jason, Jonathan, Jenna, Jack, Tyler, Ty and Alex, great grandson Bradley, and his sister Miriam Sutton of Centennial, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents Orren Everett and Mildred Jordan, brothers Leslie and Roscoe, sister Eunice Morse, and his son Warren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Friday, June 5, at LifePointe Church. Full Military Honors will be presented by the All-Vets Honor Guard following service.
