Norman Robert Stewart, 96, died on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Aspen House in Loveland, Colorado. Norman leaves Beverlae Gleich, his lovely wife of 53 years. Norman was born on June 25, 1917 in Cleveland, Ohio, the only son of Scottish born parents; Norman Gordon Stewart and Elizabeth Guthrie Stewart.
Norman's father immigrated to the United States in 1906 and Normans' mother arrived two years later in 1908; they were married in 1914. The small family moved to Los Angeles, California shortly after Norman was born. Norman spent his childhood and teen years in the Los Angeles area.
After graduating from the John H Francis Polytechnic High School on January 29, 1937, Norman began his career as a machinist for the California Division of Lockheed Aircraft on March 18, 1941. In November 1943, Norman left his position with Lockheed and on November 6, 1943 he was inducted into the Navy as a First Class Fireman. Norman completed sixteen weeks of training as Class "A" Machinist at the Machinist's Mate School Naval Training Center in San Diego, California. He served on the USS ATR-36 during World War II, where he participated in the Asiatic Pacific American Area, Philippine Liberation. After a successful forty-three career with Lockheed, Norman retired on December 21, 1984.
Norman was laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
