It is catastrophic when a child is taken from us, and that is what happened when precious
10-year-old Oliver Stratton passed away on August 3, 2023-far too soon-while doing nothing out of the ordinary, simply riding his bike home from his friend's house as he'd done many times before. He slipped away after music and finishing his last bedtime story while surrounded and held by his family.
Ollie is survived by both of his parents, Rodrick and Clarissa Stratton, and all three of his siblings-Caily (15), Grayson (14), and Alex (6).
His family, friends, and classmates universally describe Ollie as supportive, kind, and loving. His is a beautiful soul. When his little brother Alex was scared to start riding the school bus for the very first time this year, Ollie immediately promised to take care of him and be his "bus buddy" as well as the best buddy he already was.
He has lived in Ohio, Dubai, and Colorado and explored so much more with his family. He loved adventure, even more so with animals, from swimming with penguins in Africa to cuddling with tigers in Thailand.
He was forever trying to squeeze more snuggles out of life. He would often ask to stay snuggling with his mother Clarissa long past bedtime, hoping not to be shooed out-even hiding from his father Rod in the bed so he could be allowed to stay all night with the people he loved.
His biggest loves besides his family were chess, playing music, and riding his horse Ilias. He loved video games, especially minecraft, and Pokemon. His favorite color was blue, like his beautiful blue eyes.
He is missed and always will be. We love you, Ollie.
Services are planned for Saturday, August 12 at the farm where his favorite horse Ilias lives. Please join us with your children to celebrate his life and loves at 11am. His family asks that you wear blue to celebrate his favorite color.
