Patricia Russo Sweeney, 80, of Fort Collins, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Good Samaritan Village in Fort Collins. Patrician was born on July 19, 1928, to Anthony T. and Dolores Fegan Russo. Patricia graduated from Simmons College (BA), Boston University (MA), and University of Southern California (Ed.D). In 1951, Patricia was married to Joseph A. Sweeney, in Boston, Mass. In 1965, Patricia was married to her second husband, Wyatt Ruther, in San Francisco, Calif. Prior to moving to Fort Collins five years ago, Patricia lived in the San Francisco Bay area, New York City, and Boston, where she was an educator. Patricia was a lifelong Catholic and progressive Democrat. Her family and friends will always remember her great love for literature, the arts, classical music, jazz, opera, theatre, and ballet. Survivors include Patricia's two sons, Joseph (Lynn), of Fort Collins, and Mark, of Loveland; two grandchildren, Daniel and Laurel; one sister, Dolores Gahan, of Marin County, Calif. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Dolores ; aunts, uncles, and her two former husbands. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Village of Fort Collins, 508 E. Cremation has been completed by Goes Funeral Care; a private family service will be held at a later date.
