Patrick "Pat" Weller went to be with the Lord at 2:32 pm, June 20th, 2024, at the age of 77. His health slowly declined following a heart attack in November of 2020, and ultimately multiple organ problems related to diabetes. He was able to spend his last days at home with his loving wife and caregiver, Marlene. Despite being ill, Pat remained devoted and determined to be with his family, as his wife and family brought him the greatest joy.
Pat spent most of life in Plankinton, SD where he was born and raised. He was born to Lex and Mildred Weller and was one of nine children. He and his siblings Russell, Barbara, Judith, Kathleen, William, Helen, Teresa, and Lisa all helped support the family and their local small town grocery store in Plankinton, SD. He met and married Marlene Roti, and they were married on June 24th, 1967. They went on to have 3 children Jeffrey, Troy, and Melissa and his children and their families were his greatest reward.
Pat served in the Army National Guard for over a decade. In his young professional life, he worked as a lineman for the local rural electric association (REA), where he later became a lineman superintendent until he eventually retired after over 30 years with the company. He then ended his professional career working in electrical sales and distribution for Wesco for 10 years before he finally retired. Before and after retirement, he and Marlene had great friends that they loved to travel with, and they were fortunate enough to visit many beautiful places over the years.
Pat always loved adventure and the outdoors. He enjoyed many outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, and skiing. Pat's sense of adventure then took him and Marlene to beautiful Fort Collins, Colorado, where they have lived since 2011. While in Colorado, he continued to be active with the outdoors going on many camping, hiking, and fishing excursions. He has always been a fan of sports and it was rare that he would miss any of his grandkids sporting events. He also stayed active within the church and was a volunteer with the local Lutheran Church Charities Comfort Dog Ministry where he was a handler to his favorite golden retriever named Cubby.
Pat is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marlene Weller, his children: Jeffrey (Stacy) Weller, Troy Weller, and Melissa Brinkman (Matt); his grandchildren Haley Bass (Parker), Kara Weller, Joselyn Haines (Tim), Jayla Lentini (Vinny), Gavin Brinkman, and Reagan Brinkman; and his 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Lex and Mildred Weller and his sister Helen Weller.
