Patti Sue Geesey Williams

d. Apr 26, 2021

Patti Sue Geesey Williams, AKA Honey, 75, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away April 26, 2021 in Fort Collins. Patti was born on March 20, 1946 in Greenville, Texas to Forrest Eugene and Katie Mae (Smithers) Geesey. Patti graduated from Greenville High School and attended East Texas State University at Commerce (now Texas A&M at Commerce), where she graduated with a master's degree in Education and a minor in child psychology. Patti taught elementary school in Greenville before moving to Colorado in 1972 when she became a Property Manager for numerous apartment complexes in the Denver Metro Area. She returned to teaching later in life, obtaining a teaching position at Mead Elementary where she taught 3rd and 5th grade until her retirement at 65. Upon retirement, Patti became a budtender at Choice Organics where she worked for many more years supporting her daughter and son-in-law in the business and promoting the cannabis cause.

Patti thoroughly enjoyed teaching kids, especially how to read. She was an exceptional teacher, mentor, friend, and mother. Patti loved to travel and see the world- she had a passion for life that was matched by few. She loved music- it was central to her being. Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, Dire Straits, Bob Dylan, and of course, Bruce Springsteen. Patti was the matriarch of the Space Cadets, a close group of women who found each other in Colorado and formed a tight-knit family that has persisted through the decades.

Patti is survived by her daughter, Erica (Brian) Freeman, her grandson, Forrest Edward, her granddaughter, Lyrik Vallie, and her only sibling, Genie Moeller of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by her remaining beloved Space Cadet family members of more than 45 years and a multitude of cousins, nieces, and nephews. She will also be greatly missed by the morning crew at the Fort Collins Club. Patti is preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Project Self-Sufficiency, a local non-profit that helps single parent families find the help and determination needed for a lifetime of achievement and success. Patti spent many volunteer hours working with PS-S to further this worthy goal.

Patti also loved animals and had a penchant for adopting senior pets late in their lives. Her most recent adopted fur baby is Wide Awake Wylie, an orange, male tabby cat, whom she adopted from Animal Friends Alliance in Fort Collins. This is a no-kill cat shelter- if you prefer, memorial contributions may also be sent here to benefit the many fur babies in need. This would make her heart sing.

A Celebration of Life/Memorial will be planned for a later date.
