Paul Clark Eide, 94, of Fort Collins, CO and formerly of Estes Park, CO and Fort Dodge, Iowa, died at his home on July 27, 2022, surrounded by family.
He was born September 2, 1927, in Fort Dodge, IA.
Paul served in the Army in both the U.S. and Korea and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1951 with a degree in finance. While attending Notre Dame, Paul met Rosemary and they were married in 1951.
Paul and Rosemary began their married life in Des Moines, IA where he was employed by Iowa Des Moines National Bank. In 1965 they moved to Fort Dodge, IA where Paul joined his father at S&M Finance Co. In 1982, he became President and Chairman of First Federal Savings Bank. After retiring in 1996, they moved to Estes Park, CO where they enjoyed the second chapter of their lives.
Paul was past President of the Fort Dodge Rotary Club and the St. Edmond High School Board. He was a loyal supporter of the University of Notre Dame and served as President of the ND Club of Des Moines and was also VP of the University's National Alumni Assn.
Paul attended Fort Dodge Senior High School, graduating in 1945. He was an avid sportsman and ran track and started on the undefeated Dodger football team.
Paul also enjoyed playing handball, racquetball, and tennis. During his retirement, he took joy in hiking the Rocky Mountains with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Paul and Rosemary traveled extensively, including frequently to the American Southwest, where they toured many of the old Spanish missions, and spent winter months in Tucson, AZ.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage and his five children: Clark (Agnes) of Karn Glas, France; Jed (Paula) of South Bend, IN; Nancy of South Bend, IN; Eric (Carol) of Ames, IA; and Matthew (Sara) of Des Moines, IA; and 16 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Anne Gregerson of LaGrange, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clark A. Eide and Eleanor (Quinn) Eide.
