Paul L. Humrich Jr. "Bub" of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away peacefully on February 18th, 2026 at the age of 86.
Paul was born in Smith Center, Kansas on September 22nd, 1939, to Paul L. Humrich and Ruth B. Humrich (Kaup). Paul graduated in 1957 from Smith Center High, where he was President of the Redman club, the school mascot, and lettered 3 years in track and 1 year in Basketball. He also spent time as a lifeguard at the Smith Center community swimming pool. In 1961, Paul graduated from Fort Hays State University, with a B.S. in Industrial Arts, where he was no stranger to the Dean's list.
In 1963, Paul and Bonnie married and moved to Denver, Colorado to begin their new life together and start a family. In 1965 their daughter, Amy, was born, followed by their son, Paul P., in 1967.
In 1965, Paul started to work for Firestone Tire and Rubber. There he held many positions, including Account Collections and Store Manager. In 1976, he had the opportunity to purchase his own store in Longmont, CO, where he was the Owner and Operator until retiring in 1992.
As a young boy, Paul enjoyed life outdoors. His love of hunting, fishing, camping, and water-skiing was shared with his children and grandchildren. It was not uncommon to find him and the family at the "lake" on most weekends in the summer. Paul also loved the many dogs that he had as his companions throughout the years.
In 2013, Paul entered assisted living care for additional support with his dementia diagnosis.
He is survived by his ex-wife and friend Bonnie Humrich (Phetteplace) of Loveland, CO; his daughter Amy Humrich and partner Susan Hedrickson of Ft Collins, CO; his son Paul P. Humrich and wife Leslie M. Humrich of Johnstown, CO; grandson Christopher M. Faronea and fiancé Allison Heard of St. Petersburg, FL; grandson Paul R. Humrich and wife Caidyn Humrich of Greeley, CO; great grandchildren Paul D. Humrich, and Shaylynn D. Humrich; and his siblings, Paula Humrich (Margreiter) and Virgina Humrich (Engelke).
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Paul L. Humrich Sr. in 1997 and Ruth B. Humrich (Kaup) in 1996.
There will be a graveside memorial service at Fairview Cemetery in Smith Center, KS on May 2nd, 2026.
