Paul Emil Soraci, 89, of Loveland died March 9, 2012 at North Shore Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by Irene, his beloved wife of 64 years December, 2010. After her death, his health declined. He was born in New York City, June 28, 1922 to Anthony (Ottorino) Soraci and Mary Francis Arena, the first of six children: Russ, Amy, Vincent, Marion and Ann. He was proud of his WWII Army service from 1942-1946. He served as part of the first troops sent to Osaka responsible for disarming the Japanese Army and dismantling all military installations. More recently, he could be seen around town wearing his WWII cap which was given to him while participating in the Honor Guard ceremonies in Washington D.C. After the war, he married Irene Troisi. He attended watchmakers school under the GI Bill and became certified by the Watchmakers and Clockmakers Institute of America. Paul owned and operated Paul's Jewelers in Staten Island, New York for thirty years. In 1978, he "retitred" to Berthoud, Colorado and opened The Clock Shop in Loveland. He ran a home based clock and watch repair business until a year ago. Paul served as president of Rotary and Kiwanis and was an active member of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce and the Richmond Memorial Hospital Board of Directors. He and Irene were active members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish. He loved drumming in the New Horizons Band and was a terrific golfer. He also enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by his son, Paul, wife Lynne; beloved grandsons Logan and Graham of Fort Collins; his daughter, Janice, of Hackettstown, N.J.; a brother, Russ of Loveland; a sister, Marion of Staten Island, New York; and many caring, kind neighbors and friends. Paul and Irene will be interred together by military honor guard at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver following a 10 am Memorial Mass with reception at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish at 1730 West 12th Street, Loveland, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Pathways Hospice or Stepping Stones Alzheimer's care center.
