Peggy "Jean" Farrell

d. Mar 7, 2025

Jean Farrell, wife of 19 years to John Farrell passed away at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, due to complications from a heart attack. She was 79 years old. Jean is proceeded in death by her mother Helen Walters Beck, her father Clarence Allen Beck, her two brothers Sonny and Buddy, and her beloved older sister Jonnie Ann Bentley. She was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1966 she met and married Donald Duane Larson in Atlanta. They were married, separated, and then divorced in 1989.

Jean lived in Georgia, North Carolina, Alaska, and Colorado (starting in 1984), but she never lost her trademark Southern accent. Jean loved her sister so much that she followed her to Dot Lake on the Alaskan Hwy. Southeast of Fairbanks in 1974 and then followed her again to Colorado in 1984. They were quite the pair! You never knew when they were fighting (like sisters do) or when they made up; but you knew they would never admit who was in the wrong.

Jean worked at Poudre Valley Hospital as a Ward Clerk for over 33 years. During some of this time she was a secretary for the Hospitalist group of doctors. She retired in 2017. You couldn't take her out to lunch in Fort Collins without her getting stopped by neighbors, friends, or coworkers for a visit. Jean met the love of her life John Farrell in 2005 at PVH when she asked him out on a date. She loved that he was two years younger than her. Everyone joked that she was robbing the cradle! She married John at 60 years old surrounded by her family. They had a mutual love of casinos, mainly because they would often get lucky to the point of increasing their tax bracket. She would often pray to win and I don't think God could turn her down.

Jean is survived by her husband John Farrell, a baby dog Keeper, her son Jeffery Duane Larson and his significant other Bobbie Holben, her daughters Debra Leigh Sweet and Lisa Michelle Marshall and her husband Justin Thomas Marshall. She has 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces (Tina, Robin & Rhonda) and 1 nephew (Allen).

Jean was much loved by her family and will be missed by many. There is a Celebration of Life planned for March 22, 2025 3PM at her daughter Lisa's home in Ault, Colorado.
