Peter Comiskey

Peter (Pete) Comiskey of Fort Collins, CO and formerly Kansas City, MO and Des Moines, IA lost his long battle with cancer on December 5, 2022. He was born in Des Moines on February 5, 1951, the first of four children of the late Robert Comiskey and Barbara Wilson Comiskey. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Des Moines and attended Iowa State University until 1973 when he started working for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. In 1979, he began his career as a Railroad Dispatcher when he attended the company's Dispatcher training course. In the course of his career, he relocated to Chicago, Fort Worth, Flagstaff, Albuquerque, and finally Kansas City. When he retired in 2015, he made his home in Fort Collins. He often spoke of the beauty of the mountains where he enjoyed hiking with his dogs.

As a youngster, Pete played baseball, basketball and football. In high school, he was a gifted defensive back on the Lincoln High football team. Although his playing days ended after high school, Pete remained interested in sports through-out his life. His other great interests were his dogs, Boss, Beatrix and Hannah. They were like family to Pete.

Pete was outgoing and a loyal friend. His intelligent, dry, sometimes sardonic humor was well-known to his friends and family and always provided entertaining conversation. More importantly, he could always be counted on to help others when needed.

Pete will be remembered by his sister, Shan Comiskey Linn of Blue Springs, Missouri and his brothers, Tom Comiskey of Columbia, Missouri and Scott Comiskey of Bentonville, Arkansas. His nephew, Rees Linn and his four nieces, Jaime Linn Morgenstern, Hali Linn, Sara Comiskey and Kathryn Comiskey will also miss their fascinating uncle Pete.

Pete's friends and family are invited to gather on April 15, 2023 at Maxline Brewing, a pet -friendly family brewery located at 2724 McClelland Drive #190, Fort Collins, CO from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30p.m. to share memories of Pete and to celebrate his life. The family asks that any donations in Pete's memory be sent to either the American Cancer Society or the Larimer County Humane Society.
