Philip Arellano, age 70 of Fort Collins died Sunday, February 8, 2009 at his home. Cremation is planned and a celebration of his life will be held Friday, February 13th from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at Catalyst Coffee at Shields and Horsetooth in Fort Collins. Hawaiian shirt attire is preferred for Phil's celebration. Felipe Arellano was born July 7, 1938 in Fort Collins to Filigonio and Magdelena Arellano. After high school, he entered the U. S. Navy and served for two enlistments before being honorably discharged. He came home and began working for the City of Fort Collins Parks and Recreation Department. Phil also ran a business, called, Phil's Sprinkler Systems. Phil was a straight forward, direct, honest and simple man. He loved to help people, play golf and grow vegetables and roses in his garden. He was also an excellent cook and had a warm genuine smile that could "stop traffic". He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter, Cindy (and her fiance', Kyle Curran); and son, Felipe, Jr.; siblings, Walter, Carmela, Grace, Virginia, Ramona, Magdelena, Filigonio, Pita and Becky; his in-laws, Lydia, Ramona, Ronnie, Sylvia, Ruby and Tonya; grandsons, Cory and Robert Eichlin; his pets, Bailey and Mylee; as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Filigonio and Magdelena; brother, Ernest; in-laws, John and Mary Gonzales; and brother-in-law, Jerry Gonzales. Phil's family requests that any memorial donations please be made, in lieu of flowers, to Pathways Hospice.
