Johnnie was born September 21, 1921, Piper City IL to Ollie and Charlotte(Lottie) Johnston and departed this life on Sunday, August 14th, 2011. In her life Phyllis graduated from Piper City High School, attended Cook County School of Nursing in Chicago IL, served in the U.S. Army as a nurse during WWII in North Africa and Italy, and was married to Clinton Armfield October, 26 1950. She continued her career as a nurse in Fort Collins, where she raised her three children and made lifelong friends. Johnnie and Clint loved their home on Mountain Ave for over 40 years where she enjoyed tending to her flowers and raspberries and playing with their grandchildren. Later she moved to Park Lane Towers where she participated in a variety of activities and made many special new friends. She loved walking downtown, trips to the mountains with her family and a good cup of coffee. Johnnie was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Survivors include daughters Robin Corrarino (Charlie), Shauna Burgess (Bob) and son Shane Armfield (Gail), and 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Clint, a daughter Erin, and a grandson Jamie. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at a future date.
