Regina "Jean" Benton

Regina "Jean" Grace Victoria LaPaglia Benton of Fort Collins, CO passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, to rest in the arms of her LORD Jesus. She was 91 and living at Collinwood Assisted Living community.

Cremation took place and a Memorial Mass begins at 10:00 am, Friday, May 5, 2023 at St. John 23rd University Parish, in Fort Collins. Interment will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver along with the cremated remains of her late husband, Bill, who died in 2014.

Jean was born in Baltimore, MD to Charles and Marguerite LaPaglia. She graduated nursing school in August 1952 when, soon after, she married William (Bill) Benton on May 2, 1953. Together they have seven children and one adopted son.

The family lived for several years in Colorado Springs, where Jean Penrose Hospital. They moved to Fort Collins in 1970 where Jean continued her career passion in nursing at Poudre Valley Hospital. She retired from Poudre Valley Hospital in 1996 and subsequently busied herself with performances with the S.O.A.P. (Slightly Older Adult Players) Troupe. Jean participated in a Bible study group through her church called the St. Jude's group. She, with Bill participated in many of the activities at Blessed John XXIII University Campus Catholic Church. She assisted with Holy Communion and visitation at the local nursing homes.

Jean is survived by seven children, Carol Fuller (Fred), Pamela Moran, Gerry Benton, Trish Aschenbrener (Jim), Vince Benton (Terry), Michael Benton (Cathy), Charles Benton, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, one son David and one grandchild Jeremy Dayton.

Jean was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
