Richard "Buddy" Dumler, age 79 of Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of Dighton, Kansas died May 16, 2012 at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday, May 19th at LIFE Church of Fort Collins, 1501 Academy Court, #105, Ft. Collins. Or for Kansas: A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, May 21, 2012 at the Bible Fellowship Church in Dighton, KS. Richard Herman Dumler was born October 12, 1932 in Morland, Kansas. He grew up and lived nearly all of his life in Dighton. His parents were Herman and Florence Dumler, both deceased. Buddy graduated from Dighton High School with the class of 1950. After high school, he served for four years in the Navy and was stationed aboard the destroyer; the USS Whitehurst. He married Karen Louise Pettigrew on October 27, 1952 during a leave of duty. Buddy's career was spent as a highway engineer for the Kansas Department of Transportation. His family was his highest priority, and he loved to spend his time gardening, tending to his yard and "playing" (or working?) with his John Deer Tractor. In 2004, Buddy and Karen moved to Fort Collins to be nearer to their children and grandchildren. He is survived by Karen, his wife of nearly 60 years; two sons, Doug (and Laura) Dumler and David (and Darla) Dumler; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. His daughter, Jai Beth Frederking and sister, Mona Karl preceded Buddy in death. Please make any memorial donations to the Poudre Valley Hospital Foundation for the Cancer Center, 2315 E.
