Richard Lee Schroeder

Richard Lee Schroeder, 89, of Fort Collins, died on July 11, 2014.

Richard (Dick) was born to the late Edwin and Helen Schroeder, on February 1, 1925, in Chicago, IL. He married Sylvia Mildred Kesl on June 30, 1945, in New London, CT. They lived together in Chicago, IL, for 61 years before relocating to Fort Collins in 2007.

Dick's primary devotion in life was to his wife and family. He was a hard working and honest person, who did his best to live by the Golden Rule. He was truly a gentleman, and was always willing to help others. Dick served in the US Navy on a submarine during World War II.



Dick and Sylvia enjoyed traveling together, and traversed North America in their motor home. He especially enjoyed getting off the beaten path, including several trips to remote parts of Alaska and Canada. While living in Chicago, Dick was active in many groups, including bowling, square dancing, card clubs, and RV camping.


Dick is survived by his three children Patsy (and Jerry) Manning, Penny (and Ted) Schumm, and Rick (and Marianne) Schroeder. He also is survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
