Robert "Bob" Fothergill

d. Jun 28, 2023

Robert (Bob) Fothergill was born to Mary Katherine (Kay) and Hubert Fothergill on December 12, 1941 in Washington D.C. He spent his early and teenage years in Washington D.C. and started High School at Anacostia DC High School, before his parents moved he and his brother Jim to Arvada, Colorado. Bob graduated from Arvada High School prior to starting his education with the University of Colorado extension. After 2½ years of college, Bob went to work for Dow Chemical at Rocky Flats and then moved on to pursue what ultimately became his passion: piloting aircrafts.

Bob started his flying career with Clinton Aviation, and later flew for E.G.G., the U.S. Forest Service, Sierra Research in Africa, and then started his career with the original Frontier Airlines, where he flew for the next 17 years before retiring.

Bob's next adventure was to move with his wife and son to Mt. Maunganui, New Zealand for about a half a year to experience life on the beautiful island nation, which became one of his most memorable life experiences.

Bob enjoyed his post-retirement life with his wife, Mary Etta, travelling around the country in his RV, going on motorcycle camping trips with his brother and friends, and then splitting his time between his home in Colorado and Arizona, where he lived for ATV riding with his friends through the dessert. He took frequent extended trips to Winifred, Montana, where he would assist his life-long friend harvesting wheat in Big Sky Country. Perhaps what brought him some of his best later life memories was the time he shared with his Granddaughter, Amy, as she was growing up. He always had a good story to share about his time with her!
Bob was preceded in death by Kay, Hubert, his brother James (Jim), and his beautiful and beloved daughter, Kathy.

Bob is survived by the love of his life and wife of 48 years, Mary Etta, his eldest son Russell, youngest son Ryan and his wife, Karen, his wonderful Granddaughters Nicole Schaad Richardson, Amy Paul, Molly and Regan, and his Great Grandsons Rylan and Jayden.

Bob will be missed dearly. The family is grateful for all the support and love he and they have received over the last few years of his life.
