Robert Peter Vandenberg, age 90, of Fort Collins, Colorado died December 1, 2020 at his home.

Bob was born in Columbus, Nebraska to Albert and Mary Vandenberg. They moved to Colorado when he was very young. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School in Ft. Collins and he graduated from East High School, Denver, class of 1948, which he then enlisted into the Air Force as a Master Sergeant. As a Sergeant, Bob served at F. E. Warren Air Force Base as well as Buckley Air Force Base as a teacher to young recruits. After he was discharged, Bob got a degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Colorado, Boulder. He worked for 10 years at Martin Marietta and travelled to various missile sites. He also spent many years working at CSU in their Research Department. Bob retired from CSU in 1993.

Bob Married Theresa Gizewski on Dec. 1, 1956 at St. Joseph Polish Church in Denver. They enjoyed square dancing, skiing, and fishing together. He died on their 64th wedding anniversary.

Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Francis and is survived by his wife, Terry; three children, Bruce Vandenberg of Fort Collins, Sheila (and Keith) McClune of Aurora, and Glenn Vandenberg of Littleton; and five grandchildren, Devon, Serena, Gwen, Taryn and Marisa.

Private services for Bob's family will be held on December 7, 2020 and will be streamed live online for others to join from home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 9:30 am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am, December 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Collins. Military honors conclude the services, after which a private burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO.
