Roger Lee Mathis of Loveland, Colorado concluded his journey on earth and went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2021. Roger was born in Cherokee, Iowa to Helen and Paul Mathis on October 14, 1945. He graduated from Washington High School in 1964 and then made his home in beautiful Colorado in 1976.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Doug Mathis. He is survived by his loving wife Joan Mathis, eight children including Jonathan (Geraldina) Mathis, Jason Mathis, Kareena (Mike) Tomky, Kasonda (Mitch) Drefke, Justin Mathis, Kristeena Ybarro , Andrew Mathis and Jodi Mathis, 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Roger worked as a Stationary Engineer at Rocky Flats, retiring in 2002. He was a devoted father who enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, rock hunting, nature, astronomy, gardening, and cooking. His favorite shows were westerns, The Twilight Zone, and Fox News. He was a fan of Johnny Cash and George Jones especially while enjoying his favorite pastime of shooting pool. Roger has given his family many wonderful memories of mountain adventures.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Fall.
