Roland Eugene Sheets, 77 of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away on January 29, 2016 at home, with family by his side.

Roland was the oldest of four children, born in a sod house to Harold and Louise (Holmes) Sheets on June 25, 1938 in Brewster, Nebraska. As a small child, he moved with his family to Arnold, Nebraska. Roland attended classes in a one room schoolhouse, south of Arnold, Nebraska. Later, he attended Arnold High School for two years before moving with his family to Fruitland, Idaho.
In 1955 he joined the Army Reserves and after graduating from Meridian Idaho High School in 1956, Roland served six months active duty and eight years in the Reserves. On February 5, 1959 Roland married the love of his life, Maxine Amende in Rushville, Nebraska. From this union, three beautiful children wen born; Robert, Cindy and Monte.

In the early years of their young family, they lived in Hayes Springs, Nebraska where Roland worked as a farmer. Later, in 1963, he moved his family back to Arnold, Nebraska and farmed with his father. One year later in 1964, he and his family moved to Aurora, Nebraska, where in 1968, he established his own business, Sheets Construction Company. He moved to Arnold, Nebraska in 1978 and continued construction work until 1982, when he and his wife moved to Fort Collins, Colorado and he started the Service Trucking, Inc., business. Roland continued working in the trucking industry until the spring of 2015; health issues forced him to retire.

Roland is survived by his lifetime soulmate, Maxine of Fort Collins, Colorado; son, Robert Sheets of Grand Junction, Colorado; daughter, Cindy (Mark) Preston of Arnold, Nebraska; son, Monte Sheets (Shane) of Johnstown, Colorado; brother, Dwight (Brenda) Sheets of Arnold, Nebraska; sister, Marilyn (Joe Dunn of Ormand Beach, Florida; four grandchildren, Zach (Annie) Sheets of Grand Junction, Colorado, Niki Sheets of Grand Junction, Colorado, Kayla (Oliver) Pelton of Grand Island, Nebraska and Sheila (Scott) McDowell of Arnold, Nebraska; five great-grandchildren and numerous friends and family.

Roland is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirla; daughter-in-law, Ann; brother-in-law, Ed Rowswell; father-in-law, Otto and mother-in-law, Mollie Amende.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Monday, February 8, 2016 at the 7th Day Adventist Church, 502 Pitkin Street, Fort Collins, Colorado.
