Ronald (Ron) Earl Dold, age 84, passed away on September 25, 2022 at Littleton Adventist Hospital in Littleton, CO.
Ron was born in Ashton, Nebraska to Rufus and Cecilia Dold on May 7, 1938. Ron was on the Ashton High School basketball team and also the 8-man football team. His parents moved to Grand Island, NE in his later high school years and Ron graduated from Grand Island High School in 1956. Ron was in the Army Reserves and received his training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri right after high school.
Ron was employed with the United States Bureau of Reclamation as an Inspector where he worked on several projects in many different states until he retired in 1994. His most prominent project was the initiation and completion of McPhee Reservoir in Cortez, CO. His hobbies included telling jokes to anyone who would listen, reading the newspaper cover to cover, and anything he could fix himself! You could find him on the weekends in the garage with either a grease gun, paint brush, or screwdriver in his hands.
Ron was married to Marlene J. Kaup from 1963 to 1994 and they had three daughters. In 1994, Ron moved back to Grand Island, NE to care for his parents.
Ron is survived by his three daughters: Annette Bruntz (Jeff) of Fort Collins, CO; Rochelle Bagwin (Scotty) of Centennial, CO, Sarah Vasilauskas (Nic) of Parker, CO and a brother Roger Dold (Mary) of San Antonio, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was blessed with 4 grandchildren: Cole Bruntz, Trey & Ryder Bagwin, and Hayden Vasilauskas.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
The family of Ron wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Olivea Nicholson of Loving Touch Elderly Assistant Care who cared for him daily for the last 5 years as well as the doctors and nurses who cared for him at Littleton Adventist Hospital.
Funeral services were held on October 5, 2022 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Collins, CO with Father Tom Coyt presiding over the mass and funeral arrangements were made by Goes Funeral Care. To leave condolences for the family please see goesfuneralcare.com.
